Nothing OS 1.5 Open Beta Update Brings Android 13 For Nothing Phone (1) User: Changelog, Features

The Nothing OS 1.5 open beta for the Nothing Phone (1) has finally started rolling out. For those unaware, the Nothing Phone (1) was launched earlier this year and came pre-loaded with Android 12.

The company had promised to deliver the Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5 update by the end of 2022. The brand has now started rolling out Nothing OS 1.5 based on Android 13 for the Nothing phone (1).

Nothing took to the social media channels to announce for it. Nothing Phone (1) The NothingOS 1.5 open beta update is slowly rolling out and is available for selected users under the Android 13 open beta program.

Nothing OS 1.5 Update: Changelog and what’s new

Nothing Phone (1) Nothing OS 1.5 brings with it a brand new Weather app with Nothing UI. The company has also introduced improved quick settings which include new network and Bluetooth devices pop-up.

There aren’t many new privacy features baked in, including the photo picker and media permissions. Photo picker lets the users choose the images that the user wants to share with a particular app. Have a look at the changelog below,

Clipboard preview: The copied text appears on the clipboard in the lower corner of the screen. So you can directly edit the text before pasting.

New look for Media Control.

media permissions. Group files by the type of media you want to share, such as photos and videos, music and audio.

Foreground services. Close active background apps directly from the notification centre to save battery. 

Live caption: detects speech on your device and automatically generates captions.

Enhanced background memory. Minimizing waiting for frequently used apps to load.

New self-repair feature that keeps the phone(1) running like new. By cleaning unused caches and expired system dumps.

Improved Quick Settings. Featuring new network and Bluetooth device pop-ups.

New UI for volume control. Easily adjust individual volume sliders (eg music vs alarm) without unlocking the screen.

Improved game mode. New UI for light notifications and added Google Games Dashboard. Supports Dashboard Screenshot, Screen Recording, FPS Display and Do Not Disturb.

Readers note that this is an open beta update and is not available to everyone. The company is planning to roll out the Nothing OS 1.5 stable update to the Nothing phone in early 2023 after receiving feedback from open beta testers.
